HTPD 4/9/15

03 September 2015

Dear Parents,

It is with great excitement and slight trepidation I write today’s letter to you all. After 25 years of wonderful wisdom from Richard every week, I feel honoured at the prospect of picking up the Friday pen! I will endeavour to keep you abreast of all that’s happening at HTPD, as well as giving you a flavour of what your children are experiencing. As well as that, I’d like to regularly communicate how much we value you as part of the school community, sharing with you ways that parents can be part of all that we are.

Early September has always been an exciting time in my family, coming as I do from a long line of teachers, and this year has beaten them all. Becoming head of HTPD is a privilege, a dream and an adventure. I will do my very best to continue to put your children at the heart of the school – helping them to “Learn to Live”. In fact this term, during staff training, assemblies and in classes, we will be revisiting all of our school values, making sure that they are lived out in the daily life of the school.

I’m sure that our new staff in particular share my excitement at the start of a new school year. We welcome lots of new faces – Frances Clixby in Year R, Jo Marsden and James Wyatt in Year 4, Sarah Mistry in Year 5 and Tom Everard and Helen Campbell in Year 6, together with a superb group of teaching assistants that will support your children in so many ways. At the “Meet the Team” evenings coming up over the next fortnight (Thurs 10th September at PD and Thursday 17th at HT) you’ll have the chance to get to know them and put faces to names. I will also be speaking on these two occasions, sharing with you some of my hopes for the future. I do hope you are able to come.

It has been great to see the new children settling in so quickly this week, as well as children moving successfully up into their new year groups. Thank you for getting them into school on time, dressed in HTPD uniform, for encouraging them and for supporting them in their education.

Finally, thank you for your words of encouragement to me. I feel very supported as I embark on this new role. I look forward to getting to know you and working with you to continue to make HTPD a beacon for all that’s best in primary school education.

With best wishes, Clare

ParentPay for new HT Parents
Welcome to new Holy Trinity parents. Our preferred method of payment at Holy Trinity is the secure online website ParentPay. We will be sending your ParentPay activation code letters home with your child today so please look out for it. Activating your account is pretty straightforward but we are happy to help if you have a query – speak to Lesley or Flora or email finance@holytrinity.surrey.sch.uk

For more information, do also look at the ‘Payments’ page on the school website and in the Parents’ Handbook. We don’t do monthly invoices at Holy Trinity, but ask parents to keep track of their balances on ParentPay. Please keep lunch accounts in credit (see next item) and Clubs Plus / Breakfast Club paid up at least monthly. You can set up free ‘low balance’ email alerts on ParentPay.

Lunch discounts
The basic lunch price at Holy Trinity is £2.40 each, but there are discounts available for bulk credit purchases. If you buy a whole year by 28 September, the meal price is £2.30 or if you buy a full term in advance the meal price is £2.35. Please see the lunch price table on the school website ‘Payments’ page for the amounts you need to pay for each year group (days out are taken into account).

For those not taking advantage of the discounts, please buy credit in multiples of £2.40 and keep your child’s lunch account in credit. Credit is only used when meals are taken and any remaining credit will be refunded to leavers.

Menu - Week 2

Welcome back to everyone and a very warm welcome to all new parents to HT. As always HTSC (HT PTA) has an exciting year planned. The first major HTSC event will be our family Bingo night to be held on Saturday 10th October. This is always a very popular evening for all the family with a fish & chip supper, prizes and a fully stocked bar – Details to follow.

Other major events this term include Bonfire night on Friday November 6th and the Christmas Fair – Date TBC.

Last year the HTSC team raised £20,000 for the school. This year we are hoping to raise a similar amount and are therefore looking for a new team to help make this happen. If you are an existing parent or new to school, this is a fantastic way to meet & get to know other parents, have fun, whilst helping to raise much needed funds for the school.

As part of this team we also need Class Reps for each class.

Class Reps

There are usually two reps per class who provide the vital link between the class & the PTA. The support from this team of volunteers is particularly important when it comes to organising our main events, as the PTA really wouldn’t function without them. We always love to see new faces & hear new ideas, as we know there are new parents coming in, who were involved in their previous school PTA. It is also a great way to find out about the school, how it works and meet other parents. In each Year Group, we aim to have 6 Class Reps - ideally at least 2 per class. The Class Reps in each Year Group work together as a team sharing the Class Rep responsibilities & organising socials for each Year Group as a whole.

We are also urgently looking for a new Treasurer:

Treasurer - The role would suit someone with a good financial background possibly an accountant but this is not essential. They do need to be pretty comfortable with accounting, keep records and be well organised. They also need to be able to commit the time required. Main areas:
Managing the cash for the PTA (banking and payments) - they would be the signatory
Directly support the three main events Bonfire, Christmas and Summer Fair
Prepare the year end accounts
Keep a track of the profits and cash flow over the academic year
Support Sainsbury's voucher team

If you would like further information on joining the team, please contact Caroline Swift, caroline@swifts.me.uk, Carrie Witts, carriewitts@gmail.com Ros Vickerman jrvickerman@yahoo.co.uk
