HTPD 13/10/17

13 October 2017

Dear parents

I am so delighted to be able to share with you the fantastic outcome of an inspection at Pewley that took place a couple of weeks ago. Every five years, church schools are inspected for Christian distinctiveness and how well they live out their values across all aspects of school life, for the impact of assemblies and class reflection times, for the quality of RE teaching and for the effectiveness of the leadership and management. I’m pleased to say that we achieved the highest grading of outstanding. The inspector was so thrilled to spend the day with us; she was delighted by all that she saw and experienced, meeting with staff, governors, parents and children as well as watching lessons and taking part in assembly. The
summary report is such an encouraging read – I do hope you enjoy it. I’d like to say thank you to the whole school community for working so hard to ensure that the children here really do “learn to live.” We were particularly pleased with the following comment:
“The curriculum is exceptionally well planned and the well-being of every child is at the forefront of all school developments.”

I also heard news this week of many past pupils who left in 2010 beginning their university studies. It is always great to find out where the Holy Trinity Pewley Down education leads to, with several from that year group being extremely successful and achieving the highest A level grades! We wish them all well.

Thank you to all those families who contributed to our Harvest offering this week. We enjoyed special assemblies at the infants and the juniors – with Robert Cotton inspiring us to really notice God’s creation around us. The food donations will make a very welcome addition to Guildford’s food banks and helped us all appreciate what we have. Thank you for your generosity.

Today has been another very successful Fluffy Friday with children across both sites enjoying making new friends, learning something new and making lifelong memories. Thank you to all our parent helpers for making such an excellent day possible. Enjoy the weekend everyone!

With best wishes

End of day playground safety
Please do make sure that children are kept safe after school. We do need to make sure all the children are met promptly and taken home at the end of the day rather than being allowed to play in the playground or on the adventure trail unaccompanied by any adults. We do not have staff on duty after 3.30 and it is not safe for children to stay on site after this time, unless they are attending after school clubs. This also makes it easier to look after children at Clubs+ when the site is cleared quickly. Thank you for your cooperation.
