HTPD 2/10/15

02 October 2015

Dear Parents,

I have really enjoyed showing prospective parents around both sites this week – the term is well underway and in every class room there were happy children learning new and exciting things. The school is in great shape; our year group staff teams are working so well and there is a vibrant, dynamic atmosphere where respect for all is at the centre of our life together.

The children across the school have been using the “learning tool” of imagination this week. How lovely to hear of the different ways that imagination helps us to learn – from imagining a number line in your head, to devising a perfect ending for an exciting adventure story, to believing in yourself and imagining success! We also imagined God unlocking a key that sets us free from all our fears and worries and reflected on the Bible verse, “with God all things are possible.” Mr Impossible did some amazing and pretty impossible things in our Mr Men story, but actually, it’s great to dream.

Today I’m working at the cathedral with other new head teachers from across the Diocese, sharing with them my reflections on my first month in post as head. Thanks again to all of you for making it such a positive and smooth transition. I’m excited about the weeks and months ahead.

With best wishes

May we politely remind all parents to consider the safety of children at all times when driving on roads around the schools. Please keep speed down to 20mph, don’t park on the yellow zig-zigs outside the schools and make sure children get out of the car on the pavement side and not into the road. We would really appreciate your co-operation with this.

Admissions Consultation 2017/18

The Admissions Criteria for 2017/18 for the Federation of Holy Trinity and Pewley Down Schools (HTPD) have some significant changes. A summary of the proposed changes and the Admissions Criteria themselves are available on the website:
The consultation will run from 5 October to 16 November 2015 and we welcome any comments. Please send comments to Jane Bennett, Clerk to the Governing Body of HTPD, either via email to janeb@pewleydown.surrey.sch.uk or by post to Pewley Down Infant School, Semaphore Road, Guildford GU1 3P.

Fluffy Friday, 16 October

Languages Coffee Morning, Thursday 8 October, 9.00am
Families that speak English as an additional language are invited to our very first ‘Languages Coffee Morning’ next Thursday to celebrate the many languages of Pewley. You should already have received a letter about this wonderful occasion. However, if you feel that we have missed you out, then please speak to the office staff. It would be helpful if you could let us know if you will be attending, so that we have an idea of numbers.

This is the last week for paper copies of the newsletter. From now on it will be available on the website on Fridays. However, if you do require a paper copy please let the school office know.
