Junior 28/11/14

28 November 2014

Dear Parents,

I am thrilled to bits that Clare Brunet has been selected to be the next Executive Headteacher of HTPD. It was a very tough process for her and she came through with flying colours. However, I knew from when she decided to apply that she would be a great choice.

Clare really does have the skills to lead the wonderful, enthralling and multi-faceted organisation which is HTPD. She has a shining intellect which she uses to understand and process all the elements of young people’s education. Alongside this she is most definitely a people person who wants all children and staff to be successful and happy members of the HTPD family. She was a leading person in helping to form the precious values of the school and she will be true to these as well as developing a new vision which will lead the school into exciting new areas in the future. Clare is a committed Christian whose life and motivation is based upon her faith and so she will continue to promote the Good News of a life which gives a proper place to God in our school. Clare is particularly passionate about disadvantaged children and she will make this a big part of the focus.

These are all facets which I believ
e in and am so happy that school will be in her safe and skilful hands. In a few days I will have completed 25 years at Holy Trinity and I have loved, and continue to love the job. I thank God that someone has been appointed who shares that love, motivation and values.

The next two terms will give Clare and I the chance to work together to make for a smooth transition. Thank you so much for all your prayers and thoughts and support of this process. Thank you also for the great kindness and support you give to me. I know you will also give this to Clare.

With best wishes, Richard

Please note that all photograph orders MUST be handed in by the end of school on Monday. NO LATE ORDERS can be accepted.

Outstanding amounts payable: It would be great if we could end the term with accounts settled. Could I ask you to please check your balances on ParentPay for services you use and trips and pay outstanding amounts. We will send home invoices next week with your children if you have any balances outstanding – but it would be great to pre-empt the need for invoicing. It’s all on ParentPay!! Thanks very much, Lesley

Christmas Production
The afternoon performance will begin at 1.30pm. In the evening, the bar will open at 6.30pm and the performances will begin at 7pm. The play should not last any longer than one hour.

Drop off times as follows:
Please drop your children off between 6.30-6.45pm to the Year 5 area.
Pick up after the play (approx. 8pm) will be from the following:
Year 3 – 5H
Year 4 – 4J
Year 5 – 5C
Year 6 – 6M

Congratulations to the year 6 girls who won the Guildford Schools Indoor netball Tournament last Friday at Spectrum. It was a lovely event with a great atmosphere and a bonus to play in the warmth!
Well done also to the Year 5&6 girls who played two matches at St. Thomas's and won 10-3 and 14 -2 despite the fact that we could barely see the ball at the end of play.

The Year 5 football team had a great match at St. Thomas's this week aided and abetted by the rain and the mud. It was a tight game and they eventually won 3-2, well done to everyone involved.

Modern Schools Biathlon
Good luck to Ayla Darcy, Joe Fuller and Hebe Poole who travel to Solihul tomorrow morning to compete in the biathlon competition. Having qualified in the Southern Schools Biathlon they now go on to compete in the Nationals.

Congratulations to Sophie Jones who was a pupil here from 2009-13 she has won the British Figure Skating Championship for under 14s, even though she is only 12. Her brother, Matthew, and aunt Olcay are part of our HTPD family. We look forward to hearing of further successes.

Exchange Opportunity
There is an excellent opportunity to host a child from a new partner school in France. Host families are also warmly invited to arrange a return visit if they wish to. The school is in Lyon and the children are pretty fluent in English. I have met the organiser and feel confident to support this venture. If you are interested please read the ParentMail entitled French Student. There will also be a meeting with the French organiser on Thursday 11 December at 5pm. The school is the Ecole Bilingual de Savoie (www.ombrosa.com).

HTPD Prayer Group are meeting on Tuesday 2nd December at 1.30pm at Elaine Fitzwater’s house, for prayer and cake! All welcome! Contact Emma Laporte for details emmalaporte@hotmail.com.

Christmas Fair
We look forward to seeing you all tonight at the fair. Please walk if possible, if you do have to drive, please park in the lower playground. Access is via the playground doors. Thank you to everyone who has helped and who is helping tonight. Don’t forget your raffle tickets and money to spend!

Christmas Play
We are looking for people to help serve drinks at the Christmas Play. The kids are to be dropped off at 6.30pm and the play starts at 7pm, so it will only be a half an hour slot. There is no interval this year so it will be the only opportunity to serve drinks. If you are able to help with set up a bit earlier that would be great too. Please contact Caroline Swift caroline@swifts.me.uk.

Christmas Shopping with Easyfundraising
You can raise money for the school when you shop online (and not just at Christmas!) For full details and to sign up visit www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/htscguildford Easy fundraising is an entirely free service that allows people to shop directly at their favourite store via the links on the easyfundraising.org.uk website and earn a cash back donation to their school cause once a purchase is made. Donated earnings can be anywhere up to 15%, depending on the retailer and the product that was purchased. There are thousands of stores that are already participating with leading high street brands such as Amazon, WH Smith, M&S etc., making it one of the most effortless fundraising ideas for schools.

HTSC has teamed up with Northbrook Fundraising to bring you a fabulous selection of high quality wrapping paper, stationery and small gifts at great value prices including the popular Wonders of Learning Books (now reduced to £4.99) and the lovely Little Blossom range both of which would make ideal stocking fillers.

When you buy any item from Northbrook, HTSC will receive 22% cash back. Northbrook has some fantastic products, for example they have a pack of 9 sheets of high quality Christmas papers for just £3.50 as well as 3 wine or gift bags also at £3.50. When you buy on-line, there is no p & p charge and the goods are sent to your home address within 4 days of ordering. Also each order over £15 placed before 25th December will receive 1 free roll of wrapping paper of your choice. So please click on Northbrook / Holy Trinity School and start shopping!
