Dear Parents and Carers,

You might have spotted on Twitter some of the exciting things that have happened in school this past week. If not, do take a look at the website home page and you can see some fantastic photos!

Firstly, just last weekend, we had the Fun Run! What a spectacular event! It was great to see so many of you there and I’m so grateful to the team of organisers for their hard work; as well as being such an enjoyable event, between us we raised well over £3000 for the school. How wonderful that so many children (and adults!) showed such determination to cross the line so enthusiastically.

The group of children from Year 6 that are visiting our partner school in Aguilar, Spain have also had lots of fun. They’ve really enjoyed reading stories to the younger children there – apparently “We’re going on a bear hunt!” went down really well in Year 1!

Then you can also see our girls’ football team having the most amazing time, representing Chelsea football club, taking part in a tournament held in the premiership Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton. They did so well, played as a really strong team and made the whole school very proud!

You might have heard that back in school some of the children took part in Wednesday’s “Share A Pencil Day”. This was a great opportunity to reflect on how much we take for granted. The children, by sharing a pencil with a partner, had the chance to think about how it must feel to live in a place where schools aren’t quite so well equipped, or where education is not so freely available. It certainly raised lots of questions - children expressed how grateful they are for what they have, as well as prompting them to want to make a difference as they grow up.

And then of course, today is Fluffy Friday! Thank you to our parent volunteers for helping out and to the children for enthusiastically trying out a whole range of new activities and making new friends. It’s such a good way to end the half term; I hope all of you have a relaxing break next week. See you again on Monday 3rd June.

Please be advised that due to support staff salary increases implemented in April this year to meet minimum wage requirements that the cost of our before and after schools clubs will increase effective 4 September 2019 as follows:

Pewley Down - Breakfast
From 8am to 8.40am (incl B/fast) £5.00
From 8.20 to 8.40am (no food) £2.00

Holy Trinity – Breakfast
From 8am to 8.30am (incl B/fast) £4.50
From 8.20 to 8.30am (no food) £1.75

After Schools - PUPS & Clubs+
Session 1: From 3/3.15pm to 4.30pm £7.00
Session 2: From 4.30pm to 6.00pm (incl Tea) £8.00


Healthy Week, 3-7 June
A reminder that Healthy Week starts straight after half term.
Children should wear their PE kit to school every day that week (trainers, house t-shirts, shorts or joggers, jumper).

Golden Boot challenge
We are again taking part in the Golden Boot challenge which aims to encourage greener ways of travelling to school such as walking, scooting or parking further away from school and then walking. The children’s usual mode of travel was recorded on the ‘baseline day’ yesterday, and we will now be asking them how they come to school on Friday 7, 14, 21 and 28 June. The class with the highest ‘green scores’ will win the Golden Boot Trophy.

Kacy-May, Oak Class, has lost her named, navy blue Joules coat – missing for the last two weeks.
Lexi, Hazel Class, has lost her Keller school cardigan. 

Menu: (Week 2 beginning 3 June)

Clubs Plus
Just a little reminder that session 1 ends at 4:30pm. If you collect after this time you will be charged for session 2.

Breakfast Club
Please note that the earliest time for children to be dropped off at school is 8.30am. If your child is dropped off before this time they must go to Breakfast Club where they will be registered (and you will be charged). This is to make sure that they are kept safe whilst on school premises and in an emergency we are able to account for everyone on site.

Tempest Photo Orders
Please remember that the last day to return all Tempest Orders is 3rd June. All orders will be collected by Tempest on 4th June. Any orders after that date will have to be sent directly to Tempest.

Change of Club After half term
Y4 Netball is changing to Girls Cricket.

Y3 & 4 Cricket Club already runs on a Monday and Laura will be joining Peio and Paul on the astro to run a girls club

Y3 & 4 book club Wednesdays 3.15 – 4.15. Limited to 10 children, this is a 6 session series starting after half term. Each week we look at a different type of book and then do an activity based on the genre; sessions include, pop-up books, picture books, heroes vs villains and best books with facts. If you would like to join email me. Places are given on a first come first serve basis.

HTPD Fun Run
Thank you so much to all the lovely families that went along to the Fun Run last Sunday. An extra special thank you to the organisers, sponsors and volunteers that donated their time to run the event. It was a fabulous day and we are already looking forward to the next one!

It may seem far away, but summer fair planning is well under way and will no doubt soon be upon us.
Calling all DIY enthusiasts!

We have had a look at our usual summer fair games, and some are looking a bit tired and well used. For this year we would love to hear from anyone who would be willing to create any new ‘festival’ themed games (coconut shy, Strongman etc) for us. We could reimburse you for materials, though please contact us before spending anything. Match Funding
Do you or your partner work at a company that offers match funding? This is a scheme where companies will match money raised at a certain event/stall that you volunteer at. Most large companies offer this and if you are planning on volunteering for events like the SUMMER FAIR (6th July) we would love to hear from you! Volunteers and Donations
After half term letters will go out from your Reps with details of volunteering or donations that are needed for the fair so please keep an eye out for those.

Open Air cinema equipment needed
Do you or someone you know have access to projection and sound equipment? FOPS are planning a new event for the Autumn term which will see the back field turned into an open-air cinema. If you are able to or know someone able to lend us some of the equipment needed please contact Kayleigh (Kayleigh.ashraf@gmail.com) and Ana (anaxreithsmith@gmail.com).

FOPS notice board
There are items for sale and notices on the board outside Oak class (next to the ramp downstairs) so do remember to have a look. If you would like to advertise something yourself, cards are in the office with Ruth and Jane (cards are £1 for a month or free if the item is free), so if you have something to sell let us know!

So it’s half term next week - and the sun is shining (at the moment)!

Summer Fair, Friday 14th June 6pm - 8pm
The sign up for the Fair will be going out shortly - please look at which stalls your year has been assigned and sign up accordingly - if everyone does one slot we will have plenty of people to help out. There are both morning and afternoon slots so if you want to enjoy time with your kids, you could help in one of those. It takes a lot of time to get ready and all help is much appreciated!

Donations (mufti) day, Friday 7th June
A letter with preferred donations came home with the raffle tickets yesterday however, to reiterate we need; chocolate, bottles, teddies, second hand uniform (washed), jolly jams (wrapped sweets) and plants (you can bring these in later in the week if that’s easier). Year 4 we know you are away so Monday or Tuesday the week after is fine.If you need more raffle tickets, there are some in the office, just ask.

Cake Sales
Year 6 will be running lolly and donut sales most Fridays from now, so if you would like to buy anything they will be on sale in the playground at pick up.
