Dear Parents

I’m really grateful to the groups of parents who came to the focus group on Wednesday. We had a good session talking about written reports, consultation evenings, information reported to parents and teacher expectation. Interesting ideas were suggested for all of these topics. These will now be taken to a staff meeting and I will inform you of changes which are to be made.

Already I can say that we will be making consultations confidential, changing the annual reports so that the general comments section is replaced by strengths in foundation subjects (topic, art, science, RE, music etc) and also hobbies and interests. We will make all parents aware that they can ask for numerical national levels for their children in English and Maths and any predictions for future target scores. As for expectations; I told the group that we really do have very high expectations for all students and now we will give parents the information so that they are aware of this.

In a couple of weeks we will be having the second of these focus meetings. This one will include the areas of behaviour, bullying, ‘does your child feel safe’ and who your child feels they can talk to if they have a problem. I will send out an email setting the date for that early next week. This meeting is open to all including those who have attended previous focus groups. Please feel free to come even if you don’t have a particular concern about these areas, but just want to make the school even better.

You will be interested to know that two former students have been reaching the heights in musical careers which were encouraged and nurtured at Holy Trinity. They are India May Murton (2001-2005) who did really well in getting to the semi-finals of the The Voice on BBC1 and Charlotte Cox (2000-2004) who is a finalist on Young Musician of the Year this week. Our congratulations and best wishes go to them both.

Do enjoy the long weekend – whatever the weather!

With best wishes,

Fluffy Friday 25th May
We are in the process of organising the children's choices for the next FLUFFY day. The children have made some suggestions for activities they thought parents might be willing to help with. Their suggestions are:  Chess day, table tennis tournament, sewing and embroidery, make a model or toy, paper aeroplanes, jewellery making, hairdressing and hair styling,  beautician and make-up lessons......the list goes on!  If you are able to help with any of the above, or have suggestions for a different activity, please contact Alison Tester (alisont@holytrinity.surrey.sch.uk).  The day starts at 9.30, with break between 10.30 and 11 am, lunch between 12 and 1pm and a celebration assembly in the hall at 2.30 pm.

Sainsburys Vouchers
Can we make it 20,000 by next week?  We already have over 11,200!  Thank you.

HTPD Prayer Meeting
We are meeting to pray at Natalie Savage's house on Friday 11th May at 2pm. Children welcome! Contact Emma Laporte for details on 07947 712 542. Be inspired!

Room Required
Would anyone be able to help one of our Teaching Assistants who desperately needs to lodge in a room between 6-22 July?  If you have a spare room and are able to help, please contact Matt on 07854 800112.

There are four quite new and in good condition tables available for anyone who would like to collect them. We have had to replace them as in the busyness of school life the legs tend to work a bit loose. This would not be a problem in a home setting. The tables are 1.60m x 0.80m and are 0.72m high.

Next HTSC Meeting      Thursday 17th May 8pm in the staff room

Phil the Bag - Monday 28th May – Thursday 31st May

Summer Fair - Friday 22nd June

Are you able to get tickets for an event that could be used as a raffle prize? If anyone is able to make a contribution towards the main prize or has a suggestion of a local business that might be able to donate something please let us know at htsc@holytrinity.surrey.sch.uk

We will be holding a cake sale to celebrate the jubilee, so start planning those red, white and blue themed cakes, biscuits etc.

Year 3 Pamper Evening, Champneys, Guildford 23 May 6-8pm

The deal is that each guest receives a Mini Treatment; you can choose from a mini facial, massage, manicure and pedicure. There are also make up consultations / mini Garra Spa treatments, 50% off future Champneys bookings made Monday and Wednesday, 20% off Champneys products, 10% off Elemis and Bare Minerals products. Sunday 6th May - Frimley 10k Road Race 2.5K Fun Run
The Savage family will be running in this event to raise funds for the SCBU (Special Care Baby Unit) at Frimley Park. Why?  Because their lovely cousin Clara Hope (a twin born in February this year) spent all the early weeks of her life in the Unit and we want to say a great big thank you to all the staff at the hospital. She was transferred to Southampton where she had a heart operation; she is now back at Frimley Park and preparing to go home in the next few weeks. If you feel you could sponsor us, please look at the fundraising link below. www.justgiving.com/RunningForClara

If anyone fancies adding a small sponsorship sum for Ted Vorley and a number of other HTS children who are raising funds in a 12 hour Hockeython on 19th May, please click on the just giving link below. Its not clear from the page, but the money will go to "Help For Heroes" and the kids are going to be running their knee-length socks off... Thank you, Kate https://www.justgiving.com/Under12-Boys
