Infant 25 May 2012

25 May 2012

Dear Parents

Wow! What a great Fluffy Friday. I would really like to thank everyone who has made it such a memorable day. We have had more experiences and a greater variety than ever before. We have had some new and exciting opportunities like stamp collecting and meditation as well as old favourites including woodcraft and off-road cycling.  At the infants children enjoyed ‘going to Spain’, wide games and Hama beads amongst other things. The other good news is that all the children got one of their choices with all of year six getting their first choice. I am so grateful to Alison and Nicola for all the hard work they have put in to make all this happen.
Thank you also to parents who have offered to help or to tell their reminiscences for our HTPD 200 Book. We could still do with more of each group. Please chat to your elderly neighbours if they have been around in the area for a long time and see if they attended the school. It would be great to be able to talk to folk prior to 1960. I am off to the Isle of Wight as usual this half term and will chat to my predecessor who lives there – he became Head in 1969.
We have postponed the behaviour focus group until after half-term as I wanted to have representatives from Surrey Behavioural Support Group there to help our thinking. I have already had an excellent meeting with them and feel confident that they will be able to assist us in working towards some new policies or guidelines.
I do hope you have a lovely weekend in the sun. I’m excited to be going to the Chelsea Flower Show!

With best wishes

Warm weather
Just a reminder, now that we are enjoying some lovely summer weather, to send your child to school with a sun hat and water bottle.  Please apply some sun screen before school if necessary; we are unable to apply sun screen and you can imagine the mess when the children try and apply it themselves.
We do use Anthisan (antihistamine) cream for nettle stings and insect bites.  Please let the office know if you do not want us to use this on your child.

Friendship letters
Please return the letter listing your child’s friendship choices by next Wednesday, 30 May.
