Dear Parents,

Thank you for all your positive comments about last week’s book week! I do hope you were also able to enjoy the parents’ consultations which have now been completed at both the infants and the juniors. I know the teachers always find these meetings so helpful in planning the next phase of your child’s education. It really does help to complete a full picture of each individual. If you didn’t manage to make an appointment, please do get in touch.

I’m enjoying analysing the results from this year’s parent survey. Thank you for taking the time to reflect on how we are doing as a school. I’ve been delighted to see how overwhelmingly positive the results look, with a very large majority of you feeling satisfied that our staff treat children with respect, that we promote gender, race and religious equality and that we do not discriminate on any grounds. The questions also focused on satisfaction with our extended hours’ provision and again the results are very positive. Some of the comments are going to be really helpful in moving the school forward and will be used by governors and the leadership team to ensure that we continue to be the welcoming and inclusive school described by our values. Once the analysis is complete, we’ll publish a summary on our website.

Our theme in assembly this week began with hearing the story of the woman who anointed Jesus with perfume. We reflected on the importance of loving others and loving ourselves. Taking time to pamper ourselves is an important priority, especially as we hurtle forwards through our busy lives. The children thought about how they each find rest and had time to be still. So I’m planning a relaxing weekend! I hope you manage to find some time to take a rest too.

Sport Relief, Friday 18 March
We are looking forward to our Sport Relief activities next Friday.

  • Year 1 will need to have their PE kits and trainers in school as they will be running around the field.
  • Year R will be riding scooters and bikes around the front playground. We have scooters and bikes available in school, but children can bring in their own named scooter or bike with a helmet if they like.
  • Year 2 will be doing their sponsored swim during their normal swimming lesson on Wednesday.

Please remember to bring in completed sponsorship forms by next Thursday 17 March. Spare copies are available in the office.

Sport Relief wristbands are also now available to purchase from the school office at a cost of £1 each.

Playground equipment
We've just bought some new playground equipment with our Sports' Premium funding and the children are being very careful with it. Could we respectfully ask parents to help remind the children that it's all just for playtime and not to be used before and after school. Thank you. 

Ballet Club show
This term’s ballet show will be next Thursday 17 March at 3.30pm.


Spring has arrived and so has Super Sunday on 13th March.

For the children FOPS is showing the film Paddington on the big screen in the hall. The film is free, but to raise funds for the school we will be selling popcorn and squash for £2 per child.
Tickets are being issued for the event to gain an idea on the amount of beverages. Please contact Leanna Donkin leanna.donkin@hotmail.co.uk, Sally Rolton srolton@btinternet.com or Ali Fairbanks by e-mail or in the school playground at 3 pm.
Parents will need to supervise their child/children.

In conjunction with the movie, we are calling for help to tidy-up the outside area of school in preparation for Easter and the Summer term. This is the third time we have run this event and the feedback we get from the School and the Children is that they really appreciate all the hard work we put in.  The outside area isn’t really covered under the caretaker’s duties, so we can make a real difference. The school has advised us on the areas they would like us to concentrate on. Ideally we need a minimum of 30 parents in total to make an impact. This is only 5 people per class. At the last action Sunday we managed to collect 30 bags of rubbish for the tip.
So far we have had very few sign up to help. Please contact Jayne Woodsjaynelwoods@googlemail.com to donate your time on Sunday and get involved in making the outside space something to be proud of.
Could you please bring along brooms, dustpans & brushes, secateurs, green recycle bags/bin liners etc.

Arthur Brown (Chestnut) has lost his green and white microfibre towel, red swimsuit and googles.  He has also separately lost a black cape, which is not named.
Samuel Rye (Hazel) has lost his fabric Spiderman mask. Last seen in school on Friday's Dressing Up Day. It's unnamed. If found please return to reception.

Nanny / child minder required
We are looking for an after school nanny (or child minder) to look after our 2 children (aged 6yrs and 3yrs)from 3pm until 6.30pm/7.00pm Monday to Thursday each week. We live in GU1 near to Pewley Down School and would be happy to discuss all options to find the right solution.  Please contact Suzy on 07841 239 674.

Next week is the start of Sports Relief
To help support this great charity, we will be running a couple of fundraising events. We would like very child to attempt a mile on the Downs and give a £1 voluntary contribution to take part. This will happen during the year group’s main PE lesson. Year 5 will also be running a healthy snack sale on Friday, 18th March. This will consist of delicious fruit kebabs that will be on sale for around 50p each. We will also be selling Sport Relief wrist bands in the school reception for £1 (from Monday!). This is a brilliant way to get moving and to educate and inform our children about healthy lifestyles, as well as make some money for a great cause.

Please settle accounts – financial year end
Financial year end is looming at the end of this month. We would like to have all accounts settled up to that date please. We will invoice anyone with outstanding balances next week. Please settle preferably before then to minimise the exercise – and please add on lunch credit if needed. Thanks very much to those who monitor their accounts and keep them paid up! Lesley and Flora

There are no sports fixtures next week and all after school sports clubs will run as normal.

Phil the Bag is back! Why not have a clear out over Easter and raise money for the school?
Please keep all your old clothes and shoes as we will be collecting them during the week beginning 11 April (final collection day Thursday 14 April). All unwanted textiles welcome - adult and children’s clothing, shoes, handbags, belts, hats, curtains, school uniform and bedding (no ripped or stained items please).  Phil the Bag no longer give out bags, any types of bin bags/plastic bags are fine.

Our next HTSC Planning meeting will be held on Tuesday 19th  April, where we will be planning all the Summer Term events - Hope to see you there.

Sophie Henry in 3C, has lost several items of clothing, all named in red letters: blue skirt and blue cardigan. Also, a blue cardigan with Nightingale logo and blue leggings. Please let the office know if you have picked them up in error. Thank you.

Can you help this worthwhile cause? 2 students at the local Taekwon-Do School; Spirit Taekwon-Do Surrey, have been selected for the Junior ITF England squad to compete at the European Taekwon-Do Championships in Greece this April! The Chief Instructor may also be selected for the men’s team.
Competitors are only partially funded, so an 'Easter Fun Day' will be held in order to raise as much as possible. If you are able to support the Fun Day, it is being held on Saturday, 26th March from 12pm until 3pm at Broadwater School, Summers Rd, Godalming GU7 3BW.
