Junior 1/3/13

01 March 2013

Dear parents

Well on Wednesday we had our first assembly in the Chapel and it was great. Everything worked well and the children certainly enjoyed the extra space so they are not sandwiched in.

I am so grateful to everybody whose giving has supported this project. Last term through the ‘Buy a Brick’ and general appeal over £10,000 was raised. We will be putting up a permanent display of donors around half term next term.

Next week our parent consultation evenings begin. I can assure you that you will receive a clear report on your child’s strengths and areas which they find more difficult and challenging. This clear knowledge of your children should lead to a really useful discussion with you who are, of course, the experts.

At HTPD we reject the idea that children’s attainment can be reduced to a number or a grade. We, like you, are interested in the whole child and base our education on our values rather than a rigid adherence to government targets and frameworks. However, we do find levels of children’s work useful to see how the school as a whole is progressing. We are only too pleased to share these with you. Please ask your child’s teacher if you would like this, or any other information we may have about your child. This will give you another important part of how your child is progressing in school. I look forward to seeing many of you over the next two weeks.

With best wishes, Richard

Quiz Night! Friday, March 8th at 7.45 p.m.  Last reminder!
Come along and pit your wits against the brightest and best brains of Guildford in our Quiz Night. Once again the questions have been set by that master of all things quizzical Michael Tame (Geraldine's other half) and if you have been to one of these before then you know it promises to be a really fun night out, and also will raise money for the school.
Tickets are £5 each and are available from the office. Teams must be a maximum of 8 and the format is that you bring and share food for your own table, drinks will be on sale from the bar. We aim to finish at 10.30pm. So what are you waiting for? If you know your Eastenders from your elbow you will do fine!

Please try to use the Easyfundraising website for all your internet shopping. It’s such an easy way to make money for the school at no expense to yourself.

If you go on to http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/panel/ and type in HTSC Holy Trinity School Community Guildford.

You can then click on the WIDGET on their website, and then every time you go on to any website, it will automatically guide you through to Easyfundraising, so you don't have to keep remembering. From then on, everytime you go onto the Easyfundraising website, you can check how much you have raised for the school, (each company gives a different percentage).  IT’S SO EASY!

Barn Dance
We are planning to hold an event, possibly a barn dance, in the new hall around mid May. We are looking for a team to of volunteers to help organise this event. If you are interested in getting involved please come along to a meeting on Thursday 7th March at 8pm to get things started. If you are unable to make the meeting please contact Caroline Swift, caroline@swifts.me.uk
