Infant 12/5/15

12 June 2015

Dear Parents

Today we celebrated Ruth’s (at Pewley Down) Birthday. Ruth is one of those rare people who has the gift of making everyone feel valued and happy. She has a natural empathy and compassion which extends to both children and adults. As well as fronting the reception area at the infants, Ruth also knows and cares about all the children. She also works as my P.A.; organising my diary and fixing my appointments, doing her level best to make sure I see the right people at the right time in the right School – quite a task! It has been a real privilege for me working with her.

I would like to clear up a bit of misinformation. Firstly, the tale of the two Toms! Tom Paulton is a trainee teacher at Kingston University, currently doing a teaching practice in year five. When he has qualified, he hopes to be working in a Special School for Children with learning difficulties. The other is Tom Everard, who trained as a teacher here, about 6 years ago. Since then he has worked at Pirbright Junior School, currently in year six. This Tom has been appointed as a teacher in year six, who will also be responsible for assessment throughout the School. So the Tom in year five is a different person from the Tom that has been appointed to our full time teaching staff.

This is a very busy time of year and during this time we will be celebrating the careers and contributions of the staff who are leaving, as well welcoming great new members to our exciting and highly skilled team. This is a time of changes for Clare and  me but both of us are completely aware of God’s guiding hand upon the work and future of Holy Trinity Pewley Down.

With best wishes, Richard

Summer Fair - Donation day Friday 26 June
Our Summer Fair will be held on 5 July 2015. This is always a lovely afternoon of fun, games and food on the school field, which has previously raised a significant amount of money for the school. We hope you will join us. To make it a success, we need your help please and we are asking you to donate items for the stalls:
• Booty Bags– Please fill a small size sandwich bag with sweets, chocolates and small toys (left overs from party bags are great) and tie it will a ribbon. Please make sure that the Booty Bags are unisex and do not contain nuts or anything which could be dangerous for small children such as boiled sweets or marbles. These are very popular, so please make as many as possible. For more details check out “Help! What’s A Booty Bag?” on the PTA page of the school website.
• Bottles for the Bottle Tombola – Any bottle from olive oil to bubble bath, from squash to champagne. The more the merrier!
• Good quality second hand books and toys.
Please bring all donations and leave them in the boxes in the playground on Friday 26 June, which will also be a Mufti Day for the children. Thank you for your support.

Nassia Koukoutsidou, Hazel Class, has lost her black, fluorescent dinosaur bottle – it is named.
