Junior 18/7/14

18 July 2014

Dear Parents,
It was a real joy to have the dedication of the Chapel this Thursday. The theme of the service was the pilgrimage of life and we welcomed the Bishop of Dorking to formally dedicate the building. Will Todd, who is one of our parents, as well as being one of the nation’s top classical/choral composer, had written a setting of Psalm 150 especially for the occasion. I will hope to attach a sound file of the children singing it to next Wednesday’s newsletter. Our stained glass artist, Kathy Shaw-Urlich, was there and her windows set the pilgrimage theme for us.
In the afternoon we had planned for the infants to come and join in the dedication, but I felt it was just too hot for walking from and back to Pewley Down. Instead they will be coming on Tuesday afternoon, prior to a whole federation joint assembly on the Downs. Clare Brunet has prepared some fun and meaningful activities for them.
This morning I had the privilege of telling the story of the Lost Sheep to the infants – it highlighted how we really matter to God as the unique, wonderful person he has made us. The Chapel celebrates that uniqueness, as well as our corporate worship and coming together.
The Chapel is used for so many great activities each week, including dance, drama, year group and house meetings, educational gymnastics and boogie pump dancing, as well as Kate Webster’s great ballet lessons. I hope it will continue to be used for the wider community.
Along with the newsletter, we are also posting the written reports from the two Inspections which we have recently had at Holy Trinity.
I do hope you have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine and dodge the thunderstorms!
With best wishes, Richard
