Dear Parents,

At the end of our first week of term, I’d like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year if I haven’t yet managed to speak to you face to face! The week began very positively with all the staff working together to plan an exciting “Book Week” which we’re looking forward to later in the Spring – we will be “Leaping into Literature” with a week of inspiring learning based in the children’s house groups starting on February 29th, the “Leap Day”.

Speaking of “face to face”, I’m reminded to tell you about our new assembly series which revolves around a weekly encounter with a character from the New Testament who met Jesus; each person’s life was transformed and we will be reflecting on how compassionately Jesus treated people from diverse backgrounds and circumstances. Do take a look at the slide shows linked into the website for more details.

You may have noticed that our email addresses have now changed over to a new, much improved system. Please do continue to keep in touch with us – every member of staff now has their first name and surname initial as before with the @htpd.surrey.sch.uk address following. I can be contacted on clareb@htpd.surrey.sch.uk

I am looking forward to the term ahead, with all of the children being excited and challenged to discover all that 2016 has in store. I do hope we can continue to partner together in the coming weeks – your support in your children’s learning is truly invaluable. Thank you in advance!

Thank you again for all the lovely Christmas presents and good wishes which we received at the end of last term.


A final reminder that if you have a child due to start school in September 2016 (Year R) or a child in Year 2 transferring to junior school the deadline for applications is next Friday 15 January.  The most important part of the application is the Surrey County Council on-line form.  However it is also very helpful for us to receive a Supplementary Information Form (Year R and Year 3 forms available on the website or from the school office).

Email addresses
Just a reminder that we now use . . . . . .@htpd.surrey.sch.uk as our email address. All members of staff, both at Holy Trinity and Pewley Down, have their new email addresses listed under ‘Our People’ on our website.

If you have a child starting school in September 2016 or transferring to junior school, please remember to apply for a place at your chosen school before the 15th January 2016. SCC especially welcome online applications, however parents can also request a paper application form or seek impartial help in completing an application via the Surrey Schools & Childcare Service (0300 200 1004). Full information is available on Surrey's website at www.surreycc.gov.uk/admissions. Applications received after the closing date without good reason are treated as late applications and will not be considered until all on time applications have been processed. This may jeopardise the chance of parents/carers being offered one of their preferred schools for their child.

If you are applying for a place at either Holy Trinity or Pewley Down, it's most helpful if you complete the relevant Supplementary Information Form which is available on the school website under Admissions. Please return completed forms to the School Office. If you are not able to apply on-line, please come into the office.

Take advantage of the termly lunch discount
Once again, there is a discount lunch price available to all who pay for the full term by Monday 18 January. The discount price is £2.35 per meal, not the full £2.40. The termly amount payable differs slightly by year group to take account of days out, so consult the lunch price chart on the school website Payment page. After the deadline, we uprate discount payments to the full meal price on ParentPay. Lunch credits are only used when meals are actually taken, so you really can’t lose. Leavers will have any credit refunded. Thanks, Lesley.

HTPD School Prayer Group

Happy New Year! We hope you all had a great Christmas.

Please look out for the new HTSC notice board which is now up and running in the lower playground. This will be updated regularly with details of HTSC info; fundraising events, social events, coffee mornings and cake sales.


The first HTSC meeting of 2016 is scheduled for Wednesday 13 January at Rogues from 8pm. We will be planning for the Spring Term and beyond. All welcome.


We will be holding year group cake sales this term on Fridays. Dates to follow.

As well as sponsoring our major events, Cavender Sales & Lettings will donate £150 to the school if you decide to rent your property through them or if you sell a property through them, they will donate £500. Auction of Promises – Children’s Parties
16 year old ex-pupil Sarah Downey is raising money via an Auction of Promises for Great Ormond Street Hospital. She is auctioning 2 children’s parties.
Lot 1.   Experienced party organiser offers a party for up to 20 children. It may be themed and includes one and a half hours of party games or activities/games with prizes and unlimited energy! All you need to provide is the venue, food, party bags and guests.
