Junior 18/1/13

18 January 2013

Dear Parents,

I’m writing this newsletter on Monday as we were rather overtaken by snowy events on Friday.

It was so good that everyone was picked up by 2.30 p.m. by the latest and most by 1 p.m. I’m pleased that the website, email and texting proved a good way to cover everyone. It also shows how important it is to keep us up to date with mobile numbers and email addresses.

We continue in our quest to be excellent in communication, and to this end we have opened a Twitter account this weekend. Our Twitter address is @HTPDSchool. We hope that this will develop into a really useful and fun way to keep in touch. It will probably take a couple of weeks to bed-in, but keep looking. We hope many parents will follow us!

The really exciting news is that the Chapel is very nearly finished and due to be handed over on Wednesday afternoon, (this may be put back till Friday due to snow delays). Although it is called the Chapel, it will also be a theatre, a dance studio, a year group meeting room, a dodge ball court, a cinema, a concert hall, a gymnasium and many other things! We also hope that it will be used by churches and by the community. The space will be useable immediately, but we still have several important extras to be funded. The first of these is a sprung wooden floor. The HTSC have kindly offered to collect funds for this. We are looking for some people to join a group to put on an opening event. This could be a ball or something similar. We hope this will be in May. Please let know if you can help.

With best wishes,

Health and Safety

Following their recent Health and Safety meeting, Governors from our Every Child Matters Committee have asked for parents/carers to be reminded that all tops of drinking bottles should be sterilised/washed thoroughly regularly to avoid the possibility of contamination.

House Events
We have two exciting House events coming up. Monday, 21st January is the House Chess finals, with one boy and one girl from each house, from each year, competing against each other.

Following that, 3 - 4 performers from each house will perform in front of the whole school during the Music Medley celebrations on the 5th and 6th February.

Second Hand Uniform
We have a selection of second hand uniform available at the office, please drop by and have a look if you would like some.
