HTPD 1/2/19

01 February 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

So winter is definitely here! It’s been a really cold week and yet, most days, the children have still been able to spend time outdoors, either during playtime, for PE lessons, or even, at the juniors, building campfires with Paul and his outdoor learning sessions. Meanwhile at the Wild Place the children in Year 1 came across Red Riding Hood who looked very much like Debbie! Do make sure the children have coats, hats and gloves each day. Do check too that these are all named – and encourage children to be mindful of looking after their possessions. I was really impressed with the children in Finland when Helen and I visited during the summer; from a very young age, they were so organised and careful with their outdoor wear and belongings. We’ll do our best to talk to the children about this responsibility being theirs, but talking about self-organisation at home too would really help.

The same is true for remembering PE kits. I’m amazed how many children borrow kit each week. Please do check that your child isn’t one of the regular borrowers! Congratulate them if they’ve never needed to borrow from school. And make sure any school kits come back.

Can I also remind everyone of our no-nuts policy. It’s so important to keep our children with serious allergies to nuts safe while they are in school. Please check that packed lunches and any snacks do not include nuts of any kind.

As I write this, the weather forecast looks snowy. If it does get to us, enjoy the tobogganing! Have a good weekend.

With best wishes, Clare
